A boat offers a different perspective on Dev Deepawali, but a festival-night boat is not the same as an ordinary sunrise ride. River permissions, weather, crowd management and operator availability may change. Treat online listings as information until a provider confirms the exact trip.
Ask for the details in writing
- Which ghat is the actual boarding point, and how do you reach it under traffic restrictions?
- Is the boat private or shared, and how many passengers are permitted?
- What is the departure window, approximate duration and return point?
- Are life jackets available, and who operates the boat?
- What happens if authorities restrict river movement or the trip is cancelled?
Compare the complete terms, not just an attractive price. Never send money to a personal account without checking who the provider is and what the payment covers. Keep a land-based viewing plan as a backup.
If no suitable boat is confirmed, you can still enjoy the lamps from the ghats. See our ghat selection guide; the boat category displays current listings when providers are available.
